best friends.

Matthan and Asher really are best friends. Its amazing to me though, how different God has created them. They play together pretty well-most of the time-but then of course given their age---they also fight over things often as well.

Matthan is the social one. He talks almost constantly from the time he wakes until he goes to sleep. Looking back on when he was a baby I understand now why he was jumping out of his crib as soon as he was able given that he cannot stand to be isolated from others. Matthan rarely meetings a stranger.


Asher on the other hand, loves time alone and seems to prefer/need it. Even if he doesn't nap he will stay in his crib without protest and just talk or sing to himself for a couple of hours. He is the more shy of the two when seeing people he doesn't know.

Matthan is more daring but also careful. Asher is more accident prone because he has minimal fear but lacks the same coordination that his brother has which prevents most injuries. Matthan has great gross motor skills and Asher has the best fine motor skills between the two of them.


Matthan is more demanding and desires control in lots of ways. Asher is more easily compliant and when dealing with Matthan he is generous in just giving up the toy as he seems to prefer that to listening to the compliants. :o)

Matthan remains a super picky eater. Asher is willing to try most any food he is given (at least once).


Matthan has a more serious and steady personality and Asher is more emotional (this can be lots of fun or quite challenging) Matthan has a vivid imagination and notices every detail and Asher seems to focus more on what he knows to be true rather than create a new ending to a story. Matthan seems to prefer order in all things and Asher is more carefree and less orderly :o).


Some of their similarities: Both are very expressive but in totally different ways. Both are very verbal, and seem to have excellent memories. Both are compassionate and seem to pay close attention to the expressions on people's faces. We can be out in public an if they see someone who looks sad, they will ask me about it. Asher often says "what do they miss?" or "what do they want?" Matthan will often try to speak to the person. Sweet boys. Both love music. Both are pretty attached to Mommy. Both love animals and the farm. Both prefer to be dressed alike if they know they have the same shirt or sweater. Both love each other very much. :o)


Grateful for our boys. I pray they will always be such great friends.
