matthan: 21 months.

I'm way behind- yet again- on posting on different events in the last few weeks. But I thought I'd at least get the boys monthly posts done.

SOOO...Matthan turned 21 months a couple days ago. One of the biggest things that stands out in the last few weeks is Matthan putting a few words together at a time. He likes saying "Bye, See you later". This can at times sound like "BYE, See-lu-layta" Its funny, if you go word by word he can say each clearly- but put it all together and you get some interesting words. We also notice that he has started saying things in situations that we would naturally say- such as .... In the middle of one of his oh so lovely "fits" at bedtime- when I walk in the room and he is crying (hard and loud) he will stop and say "What's the matter?" - of course he is used to me saying this to him. Other things he says, "What's that?" or "What is it?", "Oh no, what happened?", this sounds like "OH NO Wha-happin". very cute. He recently got a new movie at a consignment sale, "Milo and Otis"- he loves it and calls it "Lolis".


Matthan decided to try getting out of his crib- we were expecting it to happen soon- and sure enough- one day when he had been put in his crib for nap time- we heard a loud thump. He had flipped himself out. Thankfully he wasn't hurt- and so far he hasn't done it since. But he continues to be quite the climber.


His eating has taken another turn for the worse...the veggies he used to love- he now doesn't eat. So, we are seeking to introduce new things and hopefully we can start trying to get over his texture challenges with food. He still loves fresh fruit and all things crunchy. Often he asks for crackers and croutons! What almost 2 yr old requests croutons for a meal? Only ours.



We are pretty sure that Matthan is allergic to dogs- specifically their saliva. This was concluded after several interactions with Daisy- the most loved dog ever (Crystal and Danny's dog). He has had repeated breakouts, red-watery swollen eyes, itchy face (where Daisy loves to lick). So we'll have to keep a close eye out for him while interacting with dogs. Its sad though- he LOVES them so much!! Today all four of us went for a walk. While we were out we of course pass many people (and some who are walking their dogs)... as we pass Matthan sweetly speaks to them "Hi dog". It really is so cute.


He continues to love his little brother and they are more and more interactive. We love to watch Asher crawl after Matthan. Matthan will often just watch Asher, I think sometimes he is trying to figure out how this baby is quickly catching up with him.


Some of Matthan's favorite things lately: playing with keys, eating popsicle's with Daddy, playing outside, playing with his cars & trucks, "milo & otis", singing songs, watching fun shows on the computer (he loves this a little too much- so we are cutting back).


Matthan Blue we love you so much. We are so grateful to have you in our lives. You bring us much joy and the Lord is using you in MANY ways to teach us more about Him. :O) While this can seem like a challenging season as we learn more about you, and the things you do and don't understand- and therefore adjust our training accordingly, we know we are so blessed to have you. God has been faithful to provide the exact measure of grace needed to walk through each moment and we are grateful for seeing our need for His help! You are precious to us.
