matthan blue: 20 months.

It's been a busy month- (evidenced by lots of pictures in this post!!) one that has brought on a whole new level of adventure around our house. It seemed like overnight suddenly Matthan has become a climber! He went from needing help getting into chairs, on couches- etc- to being able to do it all on his own. He even is climbing on the back of the couch and chairs! The biggest shock was when he leaped from his highchair one day! This little monkey needs to be watched closely!

He was given this hat by the fireman at our local Fire Dept. He was thrilled with it!

He's been saying a lot of funny things- and really for our own record we wanted to list off some of the latest things...

~He was looking for Asher, who was sleeping at the time, and he started saying "baby, baby" then in an endearing voice he called out "honey". so sweet.

~He often asks "whats this" or "whats that?"
~He noticed a piggy bank on his shelf and turned to us and asked for "coins". We laughed and couldn't figure out where he'd heard of "coins". Later, we realized it was from watching Mickey Mouse.

~Last month me learned to say his first bible verse Mark 10:27. We've noticed now when he counts he says 9,10,27. :o)
~He loves to sing with us, he'll start singing a song and we will join in and then when that ends, he says "umm how bout"...and starts singing another song. Some of his favorites are... "Jesus Loves Me", "I'm going to catch a baby bumble bee", "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", and "This little light of mine".
~Daily during breakfast he asks for his "diamonds"- he is referring to VITAMINS. :O)
~He's started saying things without being prompted like please, thank you, &" ok mommy". He often refers to us as "my mommy and my daddy"

He loves his Daddy!

~When he is playing and needs something he calls out "help!" or "stuck"
~He loves playing with Asher- at times he will sit on Asher's bottom and ride like he's a turtle. Thankfully, Asher doesn't seem to mind, and often laughs when Matthan does this.

~When he wants to be held he will say "with you" or "hold you". Very cute.
~If he falls down or hurts himself sometimes he'll just say "OK?" sort of as a question- as he is used to us asking "Are you ok?" This is his way of telling us he's ok- or making sure he's ok by asking us :O).

~He loves to try to distract us especially when being corrected. The other day I was instructing him and he got very close to my face and said "umm mommy, strawberries, blueberries, umm kiss?" stinker!

~If he smells something bad- like a dirty diaper- he'll say "stinky stinky- then if its really bad- he'll make a face and say "Shooo-wee".

He loves looking out the window while we are driving- and pointing out all the cars, trucks, ducks, horses, cows- etc! Oh and when he sees Chic-fil-a- he yells out "FRENCH FRIES!"
And sometimes- he'll just drift off to sleep after a long day. Sweet boy.

In the last couple days some funny moments have occurred...
~Mark sneezed, and Matthan said, "bless you" from a different room.
~The phone was ringing, and he said "phone- I'll get it".
~While we were in the car Mark hit the brakes suddenly and immediately he said, "Watch it!" (wonder who he's heard say that :o) )

working on his rocket.

He's still loving his boots-even with his pj's.

swinging for the first time with Daddy.

He sure does love his little brother- and it appears the feeling it mutual! What a blessing!

nap & bedtime have yet again become a struggle- so this is a sweet sight these days!

We have shared lots of laughs with this little guy- that's for sure. It's also been a bit surprising as we have seen a great increase in Matthan exerting his will- especially when told no. This past month- more than ever I have seen my great need for the Lord's help in knowing how to respond in these times. Wow is it challenging. I'm reminded of my own need for the gospel to be fresh on my mind each day- that I may see appropriately my need as well as my son's need for a Savior.

Matthan's memory verse this month is Proverbs 30:5 "Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in him." He's doing great! We pray these verses will stay hidden in his heart for years to come.

We love you sweet boy. You are growing up much too quickly.
